Quality Assurance Engineer
Conducts port of entry audits to ensure that recommended policies for parts handling/storage, vehicle storage and condition, truck and rail loading, and installation procedures for Port Installed Options (PIO) accessories meet all requirements as specified in the QA Policy and Procedure Manual; conducts vehicle quality audits at all U.S. ports on a monthly basis to provide quality assurance data for submission to all related manufacturing facilities; develops, trains, and monitors Port Modifications and PIO Instillation curriculum at the U.S. ports and assembly plant; conducts random sampling inspections of quality deficiencies, warranty items, and failure incidents as they relate to all vehicle models and associated parts; performs pilot, pre-production, and start of production quality coordination programs at overseas and domestic manufacturing facilities to provide quality assurance data and technical support on all vehicle models; prepares reports that recommend procedures and methods for correction of product deficiencies, accessory installations, and any transportation damage; provides assistance with Warranty Parts inspection; provides assistance during testing and evaluation of vehicle quality and port installed accessories; and conducts special studies as required by Quality Assurance Manager or Service Product Engineering Department.
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or equivalent directly related work experience and one year experience in quality assurance or closely related field. ASE or ASQC certifications preferred. Proficiency in PC skills in all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); familiarity or experience with automotive diagnostic scan tools, MS Project or Access useful. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills, and have the ability to use automotive hand and/or power tools. Must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer; have ability to bend, crawl, stoop and kneel in order to assemble and disassemble vehicles, and lift approximately 50 lbs. This position requires at least 25-50% travel including overnight stays. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (i.e. heat, cold, rain, etc.).
