Senior Product Design Engineer

We currently have an immediate opening for a Senior Product Design Engineer based in Plymouth, MI.  This position designs components and parts for commercial vehicles.  Evaluates technical contents and make effective decisions considering a wide range of alternatives for leading problem resolution, improving quality, reducing cost and maintaining schedules.  Resolves engineering issues independently including root cause analysis, the gathering and creation of engineering information and documentation, creation, analysis and leading the review of proposals as well as getting concurrence on and final execution of the proposal. Maintains project and schedule control.  Communicates effectively with both internal and external parties based on teamwork concepts.  Manages suppliers or other parties to achieve targets on time.  Analyzes new technologies and trends and prepares various reports and research findings to management in the US and in Japan.

We require a Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of five years experience in automotive product design engineering.

Require strong knowledge of the design process for automotive components to include: 

• Detailed Drawings
•  GD&T
•  Vehicle Performance & Packaging
•  FEA Analysis (including basis of Strength, Fatigue and Modal analysis)
•  DFMEA, FTA, QC, Tolerance Stack Analysis
•  Threaded Fasteners and Bolt Joints.
