Service Development Engineer
Provides future vehicle service readiness coordination for ISZA and Isuzu for Isuzu supplied commercial trucks and Isuzu supplied Medium Duty truck diesel engines.
Develops and provides direction and input to ISZA and Isuzu Japan management and engineers on future service requirements including Isuzu manuals and technical training, diagnostic tools, special tools and industry and dealer needs.
Develops technical publications, data and reports (i.e. Body Builder, maintenance, diagnostic manuals, training guides, etc.). Provides 2nd and 3rd tier support for various product problems. Reviews Isuzu material (i.e. service publications, diagnostic manuals and training materials) for accuracy and understandability. Assists ISZA with quality assurance service activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent directly related work experience. Minimum seven years experience in the automotive service and parts environment, preferably in commercial vehicles. SAE and ASM club member as well as ASE certified preferred.
Must have mechanical or electrical engineering theories and principles as well and a good understanding of engine, transmission and power train components. Familiarity with Dealer service activities, knowledge of failure analyses or electrical and/or mechanical components as well as various state/federal regulations (i.e. FMU’s, EPA, NHTSA, CARB and DOT) strongly preferred.
Must have very proficient PC skills in Windows applications including Word and Excel and the ability to interpret charts and data. Excellent verbal and written communications skills required. Skilled in engineering analysis and the application of automotive equipment including Mechanical/Electrical and computers strongly preferred.
