|Product Design Engineer I
Evaluates technical contents and makes effective decisions considering a wide range of alternatives for leading problems, improving quality, reducing cost, and keeping schedules. Reports activities and decisions to Sr. Engineer or management for approval and direction. Coordinates with suppliers or other parties to achieve targets on schedule. Communicates effectively with ISZJ engineering, suppliers, General Motors, production facilities, and other parties based on teamwork concepts. Prepares design drawings as necessary and evaluates vendor drawings. Maintains project and schedule control. Assists and consults with other ISUZU departments and companies providing technical documentation to support their activities. Studies competitors’ vehicles and evaluates them for engineering research.
This position requires a Bachelors degree or equivalent direct related work experience. Minimum one year experience in automotive product design engineering. Must be familiar with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard and Society of Automotive Engineers/American Standard Test Method; Automotive parts knowledge for material (metal, plastic, and textile), production process, requirement, test method, regulation, and development process; Development process of automotive parts; CAD/CAM and PC computer system usage and maintenance. Applicants must possess proficient PC skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications, excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must also possess strong analytical skills and ability to sketch and read drawings; perform occasional light lifting (5-25 lbs.) and on rare occasions, heavy lifting (60 lbs.). Must be able on rare occasions to bend, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel and reach above shoulder level in the performance of job duties.
