Vehicle Test Engineer I

Performs vehicle testing and participates in a variety of vehicle and powertrain development, evaluation, and validation projects. Analyzes, evaluates, and reports results of product testing and evaluations, using both subjective and objective data. Assists Vehicle Test and Validation in departmental operations. Assists Vehicle Test and Validation management with garage management, resource control, budget control, scheduling and reporting. Supports and assists ISZJ and other departments of IMSA with vehicle and component testing activities as required. Assists in researching customer usage. Evaluates and purchases testing equipment for vehicle engineering and maintains current test equipment to ensure efficient operation. Works closely with Powertrain, Engine & Emissions, ICTA, and ISZJ departments to execute various development, evaluations, and validation projects.

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline. Some college courses and seminar/industrial training in specialty area preferred. Minimum three years’ experience in automotive research and development or minimum six years in automotive related industry. Vehicle engineering experience. Good knowledge of vehicles, powertrains, and test and development methods. Excellent PC skills in Windows applications (Word, Excel, etc.), and data analysis software. Excellent interpersonal/communication skills. Strong report writing skills and analytical skills. Specialization/advanced skills in specific areas of vehicle testing. Ability to follow project goals and targets effectively. Commercial driving license preferred and a good driving record. Position requires moderate lifting of approximately 30 lbs. Frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, sitting, standing and walking are necessary in performance of job duties. Must be able to work in hot and cold weather extremes. Position requires 10% travel, including overnight stays. Must be available to participate in occasional travel/weekend work.
